Summer Soirée

Come and hear the best of local young musical talent, and bring a picnic to enjoy in the interval!

This year's popular Summer Soirée, featuring winners from the local Rotary Young Musician 2019 competition, is on Sunday 23rd of June in St. John's church and gardens.

Those taking part include the overall winner, 14-year-old pianist Justin Man, and other winners: Senior Piano, Kyle Mantere aged 18; Intermediate Strings, Amelie Ringelmann aged 14; Intermediate Brass, Owen Lee (trumpet) aged 15, and his 13-year-old brother, Joe ('cello), Intermediate Strings.  Also taking part is 15-year-old saxophonist Finn Lihoreau.

The accompanist will be locally well known Simon Gilliver, founder of the Bishop's Stortford Sinfonia, who teaches at Hockerill College and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The concert will begin at 6pm. Then at 6.45pm there will be a long interval with a wine and soft drinks bar in the gardens; this is also the time to enjoy your picnic.  We will be entertained by the Hockerill Jazz Quartet: Lewis Jones, David Harkness, Guy Dempsey and vocalist Rhea Wilson.
