Forthcoming Concerts

As we emerge cautiously from lockdowns, tiers and traffic lights (and recognising that we may not have seen the last of them yet), we have arranged just two concerts for 2021/2022: one in November of 2021 and one in April 2022.  Details of both are below.

We very much hope to be able to recommence our usual programme of four concerts per season, starting in the Autumn of 2022.

Gary Ryan (guitar)

On Sunday November 21st, we welcome guitarist Gary Ryan back to Stansted.  Gary's recitals have proved very popular in the past and we are confident you will turn out in force to hear him again.  The concert will start at 3pm, finishing around 4.30, and then Gary has kindly agreed to hold a masterclass for young local guitarists, which all are welcome to attend.  This will take place at 6pm.

Because of the intimate nature of the guitar, we plan to hold both the concert and the masterclass in the newly-refurbished Church Hall where we can arrange seating "in the round" to bring everybody as close as possible to the players.

Gary's recital will feature a transcription of J.S Bach's 1st Cello Suite BWV1007 (complete), a selection of folk song arrangements from the British Isles and around the world,  some of his own compositions and a range of well-known repertoire to include Villa-Lobos, Albeniz and John Dowland.

Tickets will be available either in advance (01279 815282) or on the door as usual, priced at £15 for adults, £12 for concessions and free of charge for under-18s.  Because the last concert of our 2019/2020 season was cancelled, we are also offering free entry to anyone who was therefore unable to get full value from their season tickets for that year.  If you would like to take advantage of this offer, just speak to us at the desk when you arrive - we have a full list of everyone who bought a season ticket that year.

Ferio Saxophone Quartet

On Saturday April 9th 2022, at 7.30pm, the Ferio Saxophone Quartet come to Stansted.  The combination of soprano, alto, tenor and bass instruments produces a sophisticated and expressive sound which is rapidly gaining in popularity and taking the saxophone far from its traditional jazz territory.  The Ferio Quartet have performed at the Purcell Room, Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall, Conway Hall and numerous summer festivals, as well as giving concert tours in Scotland, the Channel Islands and New Zealand.

Tickets will once again be £15 (£12 concessions, under-18s free), in advance or on the door.
